NAAE Convention

OREGON TEACHER ATTENDS NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL EDUCATORS’ CONFERENCE IN CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA

Charlotte, N.C.– Chad Waldron, agriculture teacher at North Lake School in Silver Lake Oregon attended the 60th annual convention of the Nation Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE), December 2-6, in Charlotte, N.C.

More than 500 agricultural education professionals from the U.S. and Canada, including teachers, teacher educators and state staff, gathered for a national meeting that provided agricultural educators with professional development opportunities and prepared them to strengthen local educational programs.

“Having the opportunity to network with agricultural educators from across the country is just one opportunity that teachers have at the NAAE convention,” says NAAE President Harold Eckler. “Teachers attending the convention also have access to professional development opportunities geared specifically for their needs, and get to interact with their professional organization on a national level.”

Conference attendees participated in professional development workshops on current issues related to improving teaching techniques and developing trends in agriculture. Over 70 different workshops were available on topics including agriscience, grassroots advocacy, alternative energy, using technology in the classroom, incorporating core competencies into the agricultural education curriculum, and more. The conference also included special award and recognition programs that recognized excellence in the agricultural education profession and business sessions that allowed state delegates to address organizational issues.

NAAE is the professional association for agricultural educators at every level. Its mission is “professionals providing agricultural education for the global community through visionary leadership, advocacy and service.” NAAE has more than 8,000 members nationwide. The NAAE office located in Lexington, KY.
